La Paz - Sorata - Laguna Chilata - Laguna Glaciar
Description: A short but arduous trek with an ascent to Laguna Glacier (5038m).
Departure in the morning by private jeep to the village of Sorata, a beautiful village located in Los Yungas (2700m), in the foothills of Illampu (6400m). In the afternoon, a walk to San Pedro's caves, one of which holds a very deep lagoon which according to legend holds sunken Inca treasures. Return to your hotel.
Day 2. Sorata - Laguna Chilata (4200m)Difficulty: An altitude trek with 5 to 7 hours of trekking per day. Good physical condition is required.
In the morning, meet with our team of porters and from Sorata, we begin our trek ascending the hillsides of Illampu. After 5 or 6 hours walking along paths traversed by llamas, we arrive at Laguna Chilata. Set up camp.
We begin early in order to attempt the ascent to Laguna Glaciar (its name is taken from the glacier that literally falls into the lake). Magnificent view of Lake Titicaca will be appreciated along with the valley of Sorata and the Andes. In the afternoon, descent to our camp based in the vicinity of Laguna Chilata. Set up camp.
Day 4. Laguna Chilata - Sorata - La PazAfter breakfast, descent into Sorata and return to La Paz by local bus in the afternoon.
